Five of Seventy-nine Short Essays on Design was a project assigned to me in college. In this project I was tasked with laying out and designing a shortened version of Michael Bierut’s Seventy-nine Essays on Design. With this project I wanted to make a pocket-sized book for the pocket-sized nature of the content and demonstrate my understanding of setting text for a book. I wanted to aim for a modern, functional and fun aesthetic. I also took a a few cues from the original book, like setting each chapter number in a different font. Over all I think this is probably one of my best examples of setting text throughout a whole book.
